Generating Traffic – Where to Begin

One of the biggest challenges is to drive targeted traffic to your website. There are a few things that you need to have in mind prior to driving any traffic to your site.

  • What is your niche
  • Are you creating your own website
  • Are you using an affiliate site/link
  • What are you offering the consumer
  • Is your product/service a one-time purchase or subscription (residual)
  • How do you plan on communicating with your customers
  • Will you have access to your customers information (affiliate site biz opps)

These comments/questions might seem silly to some but when you look at the overall picture of the business you are taking on, you most certainly need to have a clear picture of what it is you hope to accomplish with your niche.

Since, generating traffic is dependent on the above points it may assist you to get as much information as possible before you attempt to drive traffic to your site.

The first thing that made any sense to me was to know my business inside and out!

The next, believe in what you are offering! This is important…you must be 100% behind what you are selling. If you aren’t, how do you expect to convey confidence to others to purchase what you have?

Lastly, I had to figure out WHO I wanted to target.  What age group, gender, homeowner, etc. One needs to narrow down this targeting field to one or two categories to start with.

This series will be very specific, from the very beginning if you are not willing to get the basics out of the way, you may very well spend a lot of time and energy grasping at the vast unknown called the internet trying to drive traffic to your business site.
